Check Out Limits and Loan
Periods
The maximum number of items
allowed out on a card at any one time is 25. There is no limit to the number
of materials on the same subject.
Items check out for 3 weeks
with the exception of the Express Readers i. Express Reader items are
checked out for one week, with no renewals and no reserves.
Loan Periods for Popular AV
The loan period for highly-popular items
as follows. You may renew audiovisual items as long as there are no
holds on the item. Watch for the new seven-day stickers on these popular
audiovisual items:
Music CD's/cassettes - 21 days
Fiction videos/DVD's - 7 days
Nonfiction videos/DVD's - 7 days
Books on tape - 21 days
Holds The
maximum number of items allowed on your hold list at any one time is 10. Items
will be held for seven days at the library location of your choice. If you have
not picked up your item within seven days, it will be passed on to the next
person on the waiting list. and there will be a 50 cent charge for non-pick-up.

Fines
A fine of 20 cents per
item, per day is charged for all overdue items.
Renewing Materials
All library materials, except Express Readers, are renewable
two times, as long
as no one has placed a hold on the item. To renew you will need your library card number and
a personal identification number (PIN). You can get a PIN at any of our Check Out
desks.

Returning Materials
Items
checked out may be returned to any Mesa Public Library location.
For your convenience each
library location has an outside
bookdrop. However, the library cannot assume responsibility for damage or
theft of items returned in the outside bookdrops. Bookdrops are available 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
All
three library locations have 24-hour Audio/Visual
(videos, CDs, DVDs and audio books) drops
available.

Damaged Items
The full cost of
the item will be charged for materials that are returned in an unusable
condition.
Lost Items
Items
that are overdue for more than 60 days from the due date are marked lost. The cost of the
item will be billed for any items marked lost. Any library account with a
balance of $50 dollars (including fines, damaged or lost items) or more will
be sent to a collection agency. A $10 Collection Agency Fee will be added to
the account if it is sent to collection.
Lost or Stolen Library Cards
You
are responsible for all items checked out on your library card. If your card
is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to any branch
of the
Mesa Public Library.
In order to re-activate a card that has been reported lost or stolen, you must
show identification at the check out desk.
Renewing
Your Library Card
We
update all library card records annually. We will ask
you to show identification and verify your address and phone number. As long
as you use your library card once per year, your card will not expire.
