U. S. Federal Government
The City of Mesa Library is a Federal
Depository Library and has been since 1983. We provide access to
government information from a wide range of agencies and offer
professional assistance. You'll find information on careers, maps,
taxes, consumer information, health and nutrition, legal and regulatory
information, demographics, military (current and historical), and
numerous other topics. Most of the collection of federal documents is
located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library. We also offer these
websites to assist you in obtaining government information.

Finding Aids for Government Information
FirstGov Information portal for the federal government. Search by topic,
federal agency, or keyword.
Federal
Databases
Official databases maintained by the GPO - includes Code of Federal
Regulations, Commerce Business Daily, US Code, Budget of the US, Federal
Register, Supreme Court Decisions, and much more.
FedForms
Links to Federal agency forms.
FedWorld
Information Network Online locator service for
information disseminated by the federal government.
GovBenefits.gov Locate federal and state benefits including
loans and grants for which you may be eligible to receive. Can search by
keyword or in pre-determined topic areas.

direct access to full-text government documents located on official
federal agency web sites.
GovLoans.gov The gateway to federal loan information. Loans are
available in agriculture, business, disaster relief, education, housing,
and veteran categories.
GPO
Access A service of the U.S.
Government Printing Office that provides free electronic access to
important information products produced by the federal government.
Grants.gov
A place where organizations can electronically
find and apply for competitive grant opportunities. Single access point
for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making
agencies. Can search by funding activity, agency, funding instrument
type. "Get Started" section helps you through the process.

Census
Bureau Provides
data about the people and economy of the United States.
Geological
Survey (USGS) Information and data on geologic
hazards such as earthquakes, floods, and volcanos. Also covers water
resources, biology and geology.
Justice
Department Links to information and activities of
the various bureaus under its jurisdiction - FBI and Federal Bureau of Prisons. Includes fugitives
and missing persons.
Library
of Congress Access to the catalog for the largest
library in the world, with more than 115 million items on approximately
530 miles of bookshelves. A link to the Copyright Office is also
available.
National
Archives and Records Administration Genealogical
and microfilmed resources housed at the Archives with links to the
Presidential Libraries.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Find information about immigration and naturalization including laws,
forms, fees, services and benefits programs.
U.S. Patent
and Trademark Office Provides some of the tools
needed to perform a patent or trademark search. Free access to a
searchable patent database (1976 to the present), and a trademark
database.
United
States Bankruptcy Court District of Arizona
Tools available on the site include on-site
self-help centers in Phoenix and Tucson offices,
access to a qualified bankruptcy attorney, and
information gears to self-represented litigants
(debtors and creditors).

Advisors: Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses
Helps people understand their rights and responsibilities under the
employment laws and regulations administered by the Department of Labor (DOL).
Covers labor standards, drug free workplace, veterans benefits, FMLA,
retirement benefits, etc.
Federal
Land Patent Record Image access to more than two
million federal land title records (transfer of land titles from the
Federal government to individuals) issued between 1820 and 1908
for the Eastern Public Land States (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,
Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Minnesota,
Ohio, and Wisconsin). Images of serial patents, issued between 1908 and
the mid -1960’s are currently being added. Good source for genealogical
research.
