Homebound Services
Are you a Mesa resident unable to get to the library due to mobility, health, or disability barriers and no other means to obtain library materials?
Mesa Public Library provides once-a-month book selection and home delivery to housebound patrons, regardless of age. Large print readers will enjoy selections from one of the largest and most complete large print collections in the state. The homebound patron can request books and videos from their personal volunteer, classified by favorite authors, book title, or subject areas of interest.
How does the program work?
- Complete an application
- An interview is scheduled with you and a library staff member.
- Our staff matches you with a library volunteer. The volunteer becomes familiar with your reading and viewing interests, then helps them select materials which will be delivered to your residence.
Who is eligible?
- You must be a resident of Mesa and unable to come to the library due to mobility, health, or disability barriers and have no other means to obtain library materials. Individuals in assisted living residences may use this service.
- Your residence must be a clean and safe environment.
How are deliveries scheduled?
Once we have met with you to officially enroll you into the program and discuss your areas of interest, we will schedule a time to visit your home to deliver materials. Home visits are usually scheduled once or twice a month.
Is there a charge for the service?
This service is free. We do not charge overdue fines. You are responsible for any loss or damages to library materials you borrow.
What materials are available?
We have an extensive collection of fiction and non-fiction books in both regular and large print. Including; classics, best sellers, mysteries, westerns, romance, biographies, health, religion, cooking and travel. We also have many titles on Audio CDs.
Also available are DVDs: popular movies, TV series and documentaries.
How long do items check out?
