Expanded Access enables patrons to access libraries without staff onsite. Registered cardholders can enjoy select services and resources varying by location.

Sign up for Expanded Access by visiting a staff member at the Main, Dobson Ranch and Red Mountain libraries. 

Expanded Access Terms & Conditions 

Expanded Access to Library facilities is available for any Mesa Public Library member who meets the following requirements: 

Library Code of Conduct must be followed at all times.

Expanded Access Locations and Hours

Dobson Ranch Library
Monday through Saturday: 7:00 am – 9:00 am

Mesa Express Library at Monterey Park
Monday through Saturday: 7:00 am – 8:00 pm

In case of emergencies:  

Please dial 911 for emergency services.  

You can use the courtesy/emergency phone located near the front door.  

Do not remain in the building if you are in danger.

What is Expanded Access?

Expanded Access allows patrons to visit Mesa Public Libraries during unstaffed hours of operation.

When can I sign up?

Patrons can sign up for Expanded Access at the Red Mountain, Dobson Ranch and Main libraries.

Once I’m signed up, how do I enter the building?

Scan or enter your library barcode and PIN on the keypad near the entrance. At Dobson Ranch Library, the door will open as you approach. Pull the doors open at Mesa Express Library. 

How do I exit?

At the Dobson Ranch Library the door will open as you approach, and you can exit as normal. At Mesa Express Library you will press the push bar to open the door and exit.

Can kids or minors use this service?

Only if a parent or guardian is signed up, then a child may enter when their parent or guardian scans in and enters. The parent or guardian must remain with the child throughout their visit.

If I’m with my friend, can I scan them in with me?

No, each adult must be signed up and scan in separately. Failure to follow this rule can result in the removal of Expanded Access privileges.

Can I use Expanded Access with an eCard?

No, a full card is required to use Expanded Access. Visit a staff member to upgrade your eCard.

Can I sign up for Expanded Access online?

No, patrons must sign up for this service in person at one of our full-service libraries.
