Your Username and PIN / Password

Your username is the barcode number on the back of your library card. Your PIN is a four digit number that acts as a password to your library account.

Effective 3/1/23, you also have the option of creating a complex password of 4-16 characters (letters, numbers, special characters) to use instead of a PIN. Please note: to use Expanded Access, your password must be numeric only.

Forgot Your PIN / Password Options:

  • Reset your PIN / password in person at the library with your photo ID.
  • If you have an email address on file with us, you can reset your PIN / password online.
  • Call the library at 480-644-3100 and we can reset your PIN to the last four digits of the phone number listed on your account. Please note - for your privacy, we can not tell you or change the phone number we have on file over the phone.

Using Your Library Card

Borrowing Items

You may have up to 70 items checked out on your library card at a time. Materials borrowed from our digital collection do not count towards the 70 item limit.

Requesting Items

If an item is available at a different location than you typically visit, you may request that it be transferred free of charge to the library branch of your choice. Visit our holds page for more information.

Renewing Items

In general, items may be renewed up to a maximum of four times if there are no outstanding requests for the material. Eligible items will automatically renew for another loan period until you reach the maximum renewal amount for the item. You may also renew your items manually online, by calling 480-644-3100 during business hours, or in person at any service desk or self-service kiosk.

Returning Items

Checked out items may be returned to any library branch. Library locations have outdoor book drops available for returns after hours. As of July 1, 2020, we no longer charge overdue fines for Mesa Public Library items returned past their due date. Other fees vary based on the type of material checked out - visit the library fines and fees page for specific charges.
