Hold Lockers – Mesa Express Library at Monterey Park

How do I request library materials?

You may place holds on circulating items by searching the online catalog and selecting the "Place Request" button next to the item.

Requests are limited to 25 items per customer at a time. Once your hold is available for pick up, you will be notified. Please check that your preferred contact information is current through your My Account feature.  

How do the hold lockers work?

Once notified, visit the hold lockers and scan your library barcode and enter the PIN on the screen. The locker(s) containing the holds will open. Once the locker doors open, items are considered checked out. Retrieve items and close the locker door.

How long will items stay in the hold lockers?

You have 5 days to retrieve holds from the hold lockers.

Is there a limit to how many items I can have in the hold lockers?

You may have 25 items on hold in the hold lockers.

Can the hold lockers print receipts?

No, the hold lockers will only send an email receipt if requested.

What hours can I pick up holds from the hold lockers?

Holds can be picked up during park hours (sunrise – 10:00 p.m.). 

How do I cancel a hold?

If the hold is already waiting for you to pick it up, call the library during normal library hours and ask our staff to cancel your hold.

If the item is not in for you yet, but it is still on your holds list, you can call us to cancel your hold; or  

Online: 

  • Login to your account.
  • Click "Requests."
  • Check the box next to the title you want to cancel. Then click on "Cancel Selected."

There is an item available at Mesa Express Library, why can’t I put it on hold for pick up at the hold lockers?

Holds cannot be placed on items inside the Mesa Express Library. Items inside function as a first-come, first-served collection. 

Are there hold shelves inside the Mesa Express Library?

No, currently all hold pickups are done through the hold lockers.
